Former Auditor Claimed Safety Concerns
Charleston County Coroner's Office Rules Death a Suicide
RENTON, Wash. - Joshua Dean, a former quality auditor at Boeing supplier Spirit AeroSystems, was found dead in the parking lot of his workplace on May 2, 2024, according to the Charleston County Coroner's Office. The coroner ruled Dean's death a suicide.
Dean had previously flagged safety concerns and alleged misconduct at Spirit AeroSystems. He was reportedly terminated from his position in 2023 after raising these issues.
Dean's death is the latest in a series of controversies surrounding Boeing and its suppliers. The company has faced scrutiny over the safety of its 737 MAX aircraft, which was involved in two fatal crashes that killed 346 people.
