A Rare Sight: Kim Jong-Un's Green Train Crosses into Russia
North Korea and Russia Connect Via Tumangang Friendship Bridge
Diplomatic Tensions High as Train Carrying Kim Jong-Un Crosses Border
In an unexpected move, a luxurious yet battle-ready green train has crossed the North Korean border into Russia, carrying leader Kim Jong-Un. The revelation, reported by 38 North, a Washington research project, marks a significant development in the relationship between the two countries.
The 800-meter-long Tumangang Friendship Bridge, which links North Korea to the Russian railway network, has seen limited rail traffic in recent years. However, satellite images captured on October 5, 2023, show an unprecedented number of freight railcars, fueling speculation about a possible economic or military exchange between the two nations.
The train's arrival in Russia comes amidst heightened diplomatic tensions between North Korea and the United States. The United States has expressed concerns over Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs, while North Korea has accused the US of hostile intentions and has increased its weapons testing.
